Washington D.C. Metro
The colorful spaghetti on the Metrorail map displays
the underground routes and area stops in The Mall and
downtown area of Washington D. C.. The Metrorail lines
are color coded as shown and are one of the best ways
to avoid gridlock and parking problems. The system
provides convenient access to most of the main attractions
of city. One-day passes and a 7-Day Fast Pass are available
and do save money when used frequently over the regular
destination-only fares, which vary depending on time
of day usage. Metrorail is clean, efficient and architecturally
pleasing and could be considered an attraction entirely
on its own. The last phase of construction, which is
on the southern end of the Blue Line is scheduled to
be completed by the end of 2001. Metrorail runs from
5:30 am to Midnight except for Friday and Saturday
nights or holidays, when it closes at 2 am. For Metrorail
information call 202-637-7000.
